This is Me!

I’m a real person. It’s important you know that. This blog isn’t some random collection of writings that Buzzfeed put together for you. I’ve crafted each one about important topics. So, it’s important to me that you know that I’m a real person who’s working hard to make a difference.

Often authors will try to convey their realness and personality through a unique and quirky bio. But generally, they just end up listing things about their life in hopes that readers will connect. They’ll say how they “live in California with their beautiful wife and handsome golden retriever”.

Well, I’ve never been one to follow the status quo in my writing, so why should I when writing my bio? Besides, I don’t have a dog or a wife. And what’s with most authors living in California or Washington anyways? More than that, no list or bio could explain the quirky person I am.

I will rarely give you all the answers but instead strive to craft my writing in a way that will cause you to ponder life’s issues for days, weeks or even years to come. I strive for the logic of C.S. Lewis, the honesty of Abraham Lincoln and the audacious creativity of James Franco. When people read my short, punchy writing on social and political topics, they’re reminded of Rick Mercer. They see us both as people who stand as a source or satire and seriousness for the world. “Are you going to be the next Rick Mercer?” they may wonder. No, I am not. I am going to be the first Duncan Poulsen. Because I’m a real, unique person who is going to do things my own unique way.
